CBCT — computed tomography in dentistry — indispensable diagnostics

In modern dentistry, there are many tools that make the dentist's work easier and more efficient and improve patient comfort. One of these tools is CBCT computed tomography, which is essential for the diagnostic process. CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) creates an accurate (in the micrometer range) and precise 3D image of the patient's jaw.

CBCT — dental tomography is widely used in dentistry, especially for procedures such as implantation, bone regeneration, complex root canal treatments or complex prosthetic treatments. Thanks to the 3D images obtained, the dentist can accurately assess the condition of the patient's bone and the course of the root canals in all teeth. Such an accurate anatomical analysis enables precise planning and selection of a suitable treatment method.

CBCT tomography — fast, precise and safe

CBCT tomography is fast and safe for the patient. In our daily practice, we use devices from the renowned brand Carestream. The scan takes just 20 seconds and provides a detailed and precise image for accurate analysis and aftercare planning. Thanks to digital CBCT technology, the results obtained can also be easily saved and used for the patient's treatment process.

Use of CBCT tomography in digital smile planning

CBCT tomography provides a 3D image of the patient's jaw, which forms the starting point for digital smile planning. This allows the dentist to design the smile according to the patient's individual needs and preferences and achieve the best and most natural end result.

In summary, CBCT is an indispensable tool in the dental diagnostic process. It enables the integration of X-ray images and optical scans of the patient into a single unit, followed by accurate analysis and follow-up planning, as well as the use of digital technology in digital smile planning and the design of crowns and bridges.

Computed tomography

CBCT Carestream® computed tomography provides a three-dimensional (3D) image of the bone. Thanks to the use of digital technology, the radiation dose is significantly reduced. Immediately after the examination, the doctor can plan the entire procedure, e.g. implantology, in detail on a screen. Such a procedure significantly increases the safety and predictability of the treatment. In addition, the costs can be correctly estimated. The visualization gives the patient a clear picture of the need for treatment and the extent of the proposed treatment. The CBCT examination is routinely performed on patients considering implant treatment. The price of the CBCT examination of teeth is PLN 295-590. This examination is also the first essential element of the virtual navigation system - BlueSkyPlan®.

Dental diagnostics aim to identify the patient's problem and help decide on further treatment. Stomatologia na Podzamczu has modern equipment to support the diagnosis. Without an accurate analysis of the anatomical structure of the patient's jaw and the ongoing disease processes, it is not possible to choose the right treatment. We diagnose — to treat our patients in the best, fastest and most effective way!

Panoramic X-ray

The panoramic projection makes it possible to check all teeth and their correct alignment. It should be performed at the beginning of every dental treatment. It is also particularly useful in orthodontics (e.g., examination of the presence of permanent rows of teeth) and in periodontology (level of the bony process, presence of possible atrophies, pathological pockets). The panoramic X-ray is also a routine diagnostic element in major prosthetic or implantology work. Price of the panoramic X-ray — PLN 195.

Computer navigation — virtual treatment planning

Digital planning technologies in implantology allow a precise assessment of the patient's anatomy and enable the simulation of implant placement and bone augmentation. This enables the visualization of an aesthetic implant placement. Advantages of treatment with the BlueSkyPlan® planning system:

  • Better preparation for the procedure — for both the doctor and the patient

  • Shorter procedure duration

  • More security for the doctor and more security for the patient

  • Predictability of treatment costs — no financial “surprises” at a later date

  • Careful planning can avoid the need for a bone graft in some cases.

BlueSkyPlan® is a precise program that enables preoperative planning, increases the safety distance to the patient and increases patient confidence and safety. 3D planning (based on a 3D image) allows you to find the ideal implant placement, taking into account both clinical and esthetic aspects. Once the surgical treatment plan has been created with BlueSkyPlan®, this design must be implemented in the surgical phase. The doctor uses surgical guides (made individually for each patient by stereolithography) that indicate the insertion path of the drill for the exact positioning of the implant. These templates are created to perfectly match the surgical field so that the design can be translated into reality.

Digital X-ray

Our clinic is equipped with a state-of-the-art Carestream system for digital X-rays. This allows the doctor to take an X-ray image within 1 minute and discuss it with the patient on the monitor. By using a digital sensor, the radiation dose is reduced by up to 90 %. The software enables the doctor to take additional measurements such as canal length or relative bone length. At the patient's request, the photo can be issued in digital form or sent by e-mail. Before starting treatment, it is recommended to take a panoramic X-ray (OPG) of all teeth, a so-called pantomogram, to determine the patient's treatment needs. The practice is equipped with two digital X-ray systems: CARESTREAM® and VISUALIX® from GENDEX. Price of the dental X-ray — 65 PLN.
